MediaGB
MediaGB is a collaborative digital platform designed to support media professionals and organisations in Guinea-Bissau. It serves as a central hub for information, resources, and initiatives aimed at strengthening press freedom, promoting ethical journalism, and improving access to reliable information.
The platform brings together key media actors to facilitate knowledge sharing, visibility, and coordination across the sector. It provides access to relevant publications, legal frameworks, training materials, and opportunities that contribute to a more resilient and professional media landscape.
MediaGB aims to:
- Support journalists and media organisations with access to essential resources
- Promote professional standards, ethics, and accountability in journalism
- Enhance media literacy and combat misinformation and disinformation
- Strengthen collaboration among media stakeholders
- Improve access to accurate and reliable information for the public
MediaGB was developed as part of broader efforts to strengthen the media ecosystem in Guinea-Bissau, supported by the European Union.
Phase 1 – Promoting Press Freedom and Quality Information in Guinea-Bissau
The MediaGB platform was initially created under the European Union-funded project “Promoting Media Freedom and Access to Quality Information in Guinea-Bissau” implemented by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) in collaboration with national media actors namely SINJOTECS, AMPROCS, RENARC and OJGB.
Phase 2 – Promote and Protect Democracy by Safeguarding Freedom of Opinion and Expression and Combating Mis/Disinformation in Guinea-Bissau
MediaGB was strengthened and redesigned under the project “Promote and Protect Democracy by Safeguarding Freedom of Opinion and Expression and Combating Mis/Disinformation in Guinea-Bissau”, implemented by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Reporters Without Borders (RSF), and Fondation Hirondelle (FH), with the support of the European Union.
