Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA)

Empowering Media and Voices for Public Good

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is a regional independent organisation dedicated to promoting media freedom, freedom of expression, access to information and democratic governance across West Africa. Through advocacy, research, capacity building and policy engagement, the organisation works to strengthen independent media and support an enabling environment for journalists and citizens.

Role in MediaGB

As the lead implementing partner, MFWA coordinates the overall implementation of the project and oversees the development and management of the MediaGB platform. The organisation leads activities aimed at strengthening media professionalism, promoting ethical journalism, enhancing media and information literacy, supporting civil society engagement and fostering collaboration among media stakeholders in Guinea-Bissau.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF)

Defending the right to free and reliable information

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to defending freedom of information and protecting journalists around the world. Through advocacy, monitoring, research and safety initiatives, RSF works to ensure that journalists can carry out their work freely, independently and safely.

Role in MediaGB

Within the project, RSF provides technical expertise on journalist safety and press freedom. The organisation supports initiatives aimed at improving the safety and protection of journalists, strengthening safety mechanisms within the media sector and promoting an enabling environment for independent journalism in Guinea-Bissau.
