The Journalistic Class of Guinea-Bissau firmly believes that public enlightenment is essential for the promotion of justice and the consolidation of democracy. Recognizing that citizens have the right to pluralistic and impartial information that allows them to fully exercise their other rights, satisfy their fundamental needs and achieve their aspirations, we know that these rights can only be guaranteed by a free, independent, credible and robust press. In view of this, journalists in Guinea-Bissau undertake, as of December 6, 2018, to strictly follow the principles set out in this code of ethics, thus guaranteeing ethical, responsible journalism dedicated to public service.
