The Profile of the Media in Guinea-Bissau, a final report that sets out the significant challenges facing the Guinean press.

The study covers the situation of the media sector over the last three years, providing a historical context based on previous studies, such as those by António Soares Lopes (Tony Tcheka). In addition, an exploratory analysis of the existing literature on the media in Guinea-Bissau allowed for an assessment of the evolution and challenges faced by the media over time. A comprehensive database was also drawn up, including the various media outlets in the country, as well as diagnosing the current situation of the personnel involved in these bodies.
The study highlights the scant representation of women, the financial fragility of media professionals and political interference, which often results in censorship and self-censorship. Despite these challenges, the report offers an optimistic outlook, indicating the possibility of transforming the Guinean media landscape with targeted interventions and ongoing partnerships between local and international organizations.
This initiative, led by the Association of Women Media Professionals (AMPROCS), in collaboration with consortium members such as the Guinean League for Human Rights (LGHD) and the Association for Cooperation Among Peoples (ACEP), provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the media.
