This week has been extremely fruitful for the ongoing project, which aims to promote media freedom and access to quality information in Guinea-Bissau. This project is being implemented by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), in collaboration with the media actors Sindicato dos Jornalistas e Técnicos de Comunicação Social da Guiné-Bissau, Amprocs- GB, RENARC-Rede Nacional Das Radios e Televisoes Comunitarias and Ordem dos Jornalistas da Guiné-Bissau OJGB, with financial support from the European Union.
Throughout the week, we held a series of meetings with various stakeholders, both national and international, all committed to promoting press freedom, freedom of expression, access to information and the safety of journalists in the country.

We would especially like to highlight the meeting with the Judicial Police, in which we discussed the comprehensive national framework for the safety of journalists in Guinea-Bissau. This initiative, developed in collaboration with media actors, state actors, civil society and academia, represents a significant milestone in guaranteeing the safety and protection of communication professionals in the country.
In addition, we had a fruitful discussion with various media professionals and the Delegation of the European Union in Guinea-Bissau about the importance and relevance of the role of the media in the electoral process, such as election monitoring, journalists’ safety, media reporting, access to information and fact-checking before, during and after the electoral processes.
We are extremely pleased with the progress made so far and the continued commitment of all those involved to creating a healthy environment for press freedom and access to information in Guinea-Bissau.
Together, we are building a more transparent and democratic future for all Guineans.
