MEDIA LITERACY TIPS – CREOLE/PORTUGUESE

15 September 2024

As part of efforts to strengthen media literacy among citizens and promote a culture of fact-checking among journalists in Guinea-Bissau, various communication materials on media literacy have been produced and disseminated on the project’s social networks, as well as by some media organizations in the country. The aim is to make the media and the public aware of the importance of fact-checking, which constitutes hate speech and polarizing narratives.

This initiative aims to help combat mis/disinformation and foster a culture of fact-based public information and education in the country. The MIL materials were produced in Portuguese, Creole, Balanta and Fula, and included visual and audio content.
